The sport? Auto racing. John’s passion for racing began when he was a teen and continues to this day. Whether as a spectator or participant, the roar of the engines has always given him a feeling of wonder and excitement.
For John, auto racing is not simply cars on a track, but a constant challenge for both mind and body. From the cardiovascular workout received by a heart rate of over 200 to the mental discipline required when driving through traffic "at speed" with only inches to spare, auto racing demands the maximum concentration, effort, and commitment to success. John loves auto racing not only for the pure excitement of the sport, but also because it embodies the ultimate risk-reward scenario.
In racing there is no room for laxity, indecision, fear or failure. While in other sports a mistake may cost a lost play, in racing a mistake may result in a violent crash. Yet it is these high stakes that create such high rewards. For, the greater the challenge, the greater the effort and dedication needed to overcome it. And it is in the achievement of an extreme challenge that extreme satisfaction and reward are found.Auto racing may seem a far extreme from the professional motivational keynote speaker on the platform before an audience, but in reality it is not as far a gulf as it first appears. Both require intense focus and concentration, mastering a wide body of knowledge and long practice to hone the knowledge and skills to their peak.
